Catching Up on a Windy, Rainy Day

Been awhile since I posted, so I thought I'd check in with a quick update. Things are going quite well, and I've been really pleased with my little online store and the warm reception I've gotten from all of you. I wish I had more of my own patterns to offer, but all in good time. Right now, I'm trying to get better organized, tidy up my home-based operation a bit, and make decisions with regard to the products I want to add to Hannah's inventory. If any of you have suggestions to make, I'd be ever grateful.

I just got a batch of new needlework scissors in stock, and I'll get photos taken soon and get them posted. I now have 5 different styles of black matte scissors in stock, and they are precious! I can't wait to get them photographed and get them posted for you all to see and choose from.

I also have tacked all of The Gentle Art flosses up on my wall, right here by my computer, and they look sooooo beautiful! I hear them calling me to stitch, although I have other work to be done as well. Those amazing colors are very distracting, though... I am working on more cross-stitch designs to hopefully become patterns soon. I have a ton of ideas floating around in the old noggin, so hopefully I'll bring at least a few of them to fruition (and stitched into linen) soon. ;-)

I also have on order a few more colors of silk matka to add to the stash, so watch for those. And, I'm toying with the idea of adding a batch of medium-weight Shetland wools; perfect for rug hooking and other great projects. Again, let me know what you think. The colors that are available from the wholesaler are amazing, and I covet them even though I haven't worked with wool before myself. Maybe I need to give it a try, too. At the very least, I need to incorporate some into a few of my cross-stitch designs.

Don't forget all the beautiful colors of WoolFelt we have at Hannah's, either! I'm ever-amazed at the beautiful projects I see online that others have done with WoolFelt. I've worked with it just a bit myself, and it's a delight to use for penny rugs and other goodies.

Once I get some tidying and organizing done, I'll be ordering more cotton fabrics as well, so again, I hope you'll watch for those. I think there are enough of us who still love to work with homespuns, and they are increasingly harder to find. But I'll do my best to grab them up for you whenever I can. I love them for my rag quilts, too, of course. :-)

We had some snow here in Bend, Oregon up until last night, when it warmed a bit outside and a very windy, rainy system came in and washed most of it away... for now. It's pretty stormy outside my window as I write this. Looks like we're in for more snow and rain (and wind!) over the next few days. Hope you all have somewhere warm and safe to be for Thanksgiving; somewhere with loved ones and all the ingredients for special memories to be made. Hubby and I will be home, just us, again this year, but we're hopeful that our sons will make it home over the mountains for Christmas. Time will tell.

May you and yours have a blessed, joyous Thanksgiving, filled with love and light.

The Gentle Art flosses have arrived! And, let's talk wholesale!

First, the flosses: These are the entire collection of The Gentle Art Flosses from The Sampler Collection and The Shaker Collection. And they are sooooo beautiful!

I've only worked with these yummy flosses for one project so far, but I am head-over-heels crazy about them. Just look at these fabulous hand-dyed colors! And with color names like "Pumpkin Patch," "Fisherman's Wharf," "Old Red Paint," "Black Crow," "Weathered Barn," and "Portabella," well, I'm just going to have to make a goal of designing enough patterns to make use of every single one of them.

They are all here, in stock, and are all now listed and available to order, so have fun checking 'em out at Hannah's PinKeep.

On another note, I also decided today that offering a "Wholesale" option at Hannah's might be a nifty idea. After all, my fellow designers and retailers might just enjoy being able to order all the awesome supplies I'm stocking (and will soon be stocking) at Hannah's at some really great discounted prices... yes? I'm still working out all the particulars, but feel free to submit the little application form to start your account (visit the link, then click the "Apply Here" link), and I'll be back in touch with you just as soon as I have everything in order.

Happy Monday!

Silk Matka

I recently received a shipment of some pieces of silk matka I ordered for my store, and I wanted to show you what I LOVE about this fabric. This photo shows the new pieces, before washing, on the right ... and a couple of pieces I had which have been laundered, on the left. Notice how the new matka is smooth and shiny, but the laundered matka takes on that wonderful faded, nubby look of a very old fabric? It looks like a fabric that might have been widely used hundreds of years ago!

I absolutely love silk matka! It's an amazing fabric to use for accenting stitched pieces, or making ornies, dressing dolls, prairie bonnets, or whatever else you can think of in the way of primitive accents.

I have silk matka available for purchase at Hannah's, here. And, although I only have a few colors listed thus far, I do have access to many other colors that would lend themselves beautifully to primitive decor. Just let me know if you'd care to see more! :-)
